ORIGIN OF HAN DYNASTY
During the previous dynasty, the Qin dynasty, a man named Liu Bang who had been born a peasant, led a group of generals to overthrow the Qin dynasty. It was all started when Shi Haundis passed away, immediately his son took over his father's throne. However, his son was too naive to control such massive country, less effective in controlling in army military, politicians, generals had led civil war to break out within the dynasty. By the time the dynasty collapsed, Liu Bang raised an army and claimed the vacant throne. However, there were also many other powers wanted to claim the throne for themselves, general Xiang Yu was one of them, he eventually became Liu Bang's ultimate opponent. A war broke out between the two great leaders contending for the throne left empty by deceased emperor Shi Huangdis.
Xiang Yu successfully captured Liu Bang's father and sent a final warning letter to Liu Bang, assuming his father would be boiled alive unless Liu Band and his army surrender. However, Liu Bang calmly replied he did not get along very well with his father " send me a cup of the soup". Eventually his father did not burn alive and was released. There are many suggestions to Liu Bang's victory and Xiang Yu' death such as Xiang Yu committed suicide, Xiang Yu was surrounded in a battle, undermined by the popular support for Liu Bang. But ultimately, Xiang Yu has gone down in the history of CHina as the most ferocious, greatest generals and strategists. Liu Bang fought all over Jiangsu, Anhui, Hebei and Shaanxi defeated the tribes to north and became first Chinese emperor who was generally a commoner. He also signed treaties with the clans to the west. This made travel much safer and led to establishment of what became known as the "Silk Road". This was a trade route connecting China with the Roman Empire thousands of miles away in Europe.
